All air conditioning units have filters and all air conditioning filters need cleaning or replacing.
These are to filter the air as it gets sucked and recycled through the indoor fan coil.
The filters job is to catch small dust particles preventing them being sucked into the air conditioning coils where they can restrict airflow and increase running costs. They also improve the air quality of the air that you breathe.
Most wall split systems air conditioning filters can be reached by lifting up the front panel. These usually have a hinge on top of the unit and you lift the front cover by unclipping the bottom right and left clips. Pull the front cover up towards the ceiling and it should stay open once it is lifted high enough. The filters can be easily seen and removed. Most modern units have two separate filters.
The filters should be washed either in a sink or outside with a hose. If the filter looks oily use some dishwashing liquid.
While the filter is drying inspect the air conditioning unit.
The coils can be vacuumed with a soft brush attachment. Be careful not to damage the coils. This is also a great time to wipe down the plastic around the unit.
Your air conditioning filters should checked between 3 and 6 months depending on how often the wall split system unit is used.
Although the filters are the main thing that the consumer can do to keep the air conditioning unit maintained a proper service and clean are highly recommended.
If you look into the bottom of your air conditioning unit and see mould on the plastic or shine a torch into the fan barrel and see a build up of dirt then its time for a professional clean.
Our premium clean involves stripping the indoor unit down, fitting a catchment bag and spraying the unit, coils, drain, louvers and fan barrel with a special spray that removes dirt, mould, DNA, bacteria and anything else that has made a home in your air conditioning unit. We then spray it off with with hot high pressure jets of water. and the end result is a near new looking air conditioning unit.
For best results we recommend the premium clean with a service.

Ducted air conditioning filters are usually inside the return air grill. This is the big grill that sucks the air back into the unit. To get access to the filter undo the screw on one end of the grill. The grill should then hinge down and the filter should slide out of the end.
Wash the filter with a hose and lean it against a wall leaning on one corner to allow the water to run out. Do not vacuum or brush the filter as this can damage it. While the filter is drying wipe, vacuum and clean the air conditioning grill.
Once the filter is dry then slide it back into the grill.
Your air conditioning filters should be checked every 3 to 6 months depending on how often you use your ducted air conditioning unit.
