Good news the new Mitsubishi Electric 9Kw inverter, reverse cycle air conditioning unit is finally available. The MSZ-AS90VGD indoor unit is matched with the MUZ-AS90VGD outdoor unit providing the largest high wall split system Mitsubishi Electric have ever produced.
The unit has a maximum cooling capacity of 10.3Kw insuring it will cool your room down to a comfortable temperature in no time. Once down to the set temperature the compressor will wind down to a minimum cooling output of just 2Kw.
With heating, this unit is rated at 10.3Kw and is able to ramp up to a massive 11.5Kw. Once the set temperature is reached it can wind all the way down to 2.2Kw.
The unit has a EER of 3.24 and a COP of 3.5 – this allows it to have a cooling star rating of 3.5 and a heating star rating of 3. A very respectable number compared to other brands at this size.
The indoor unit has the usual 4 manual fan speeds as well as a quiet mode and a powerful mode.
The POWERFUL setting allows the air conditioning unit to run at the lowest temperature and the highest fan for 20 minutes to cool or heat the room as fast as possible. After the 20 minutes the unit will return to its previous fan setting.
The AUTO fan setting allows the indoor unit to control the fan speed automatically. It will first run the unit on a high speed and as the unit gets closer to the set temperature it will automatically reduce the fan speed down until it is eventually running on low.
The unit has the normal COOL, HEAT, DRY, FAN and AUTO modes. Each of these settings can be viewed in this article.
As with all Mitsubishi Electric air conditioning units the 9Kw unit also has a built-in Anti-Allergy Enzyme Filter. This filter works by trapping allergens such as mould and bacteria by using enzymes retained in the filter to decompose them. The unit has the usually two filters that can be manually cleaned when they start to become dirty. These should be removed and hosed every 3 months. Depending on how often you use the unit you may need to do it more or less. A typical house hold would only need to clean these filtersonce a year.
The indoor unit is coated in an advanced Dual Barrier Coating. This is applied to the indoor coil and reduces dirt and dust from sticking to it. It not only helps the unit stay cleaner for longer but also makes for easier cleaning.
The new Mitsubishi Electric 9Kw unit also has Wi-Fi control. This is an optional adapter that is fitted to the indoor unit that allows the unit to be controlled by a downloadable app. This innovative technology connects your Mitsubishi Electric air conditioner to your smartphone, tablet or online account, giving you the freedom to fully control each unit on-the-go via an internet connection from anywhere in the world. You can view and control your air conditioning unit by turning the unit on or off, adjust the temperature, change modes, fan speeds and airflow direction. You can also set 7 day weekly schedules. The adapter and app allows you to do everything on your smartphone, tablet or online account that you could do with the physical remote control.
You can also program your system to always meet your needs. Unlock the full potential of your air conditioning unit by programming your system to automatically turn on/off at specific times, change settings, and develop temperature rules to ensure superior comfort day after day. You can also program your unit to come on or off at set temperatures.
The apps can also work with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa so you can control the unit with your voice.
Night Mode is a function that can be selected on the remote that is designed to increase comfort at night. This is achieved by reducing the LED brightness on the indoor unit, disabling the alert beeps and reducing the outdoor units operational noise levels by up to 3dB.
As with all Mitsubishi Electric unit the 9Kw model also has an auto-start function which allows the air conditioning unit to continue to operate at its last setting after a power outage.
These units are also equipped with a Demand Response Enabling Device (DRED), which allows the activation of 3 preprogrammed modes in response to a signal sent from Energex. This is designed to help reduce the load on the electrical grid during peak demand. They also will give you a $200 cashback for each air conditioning unit over 3.5Kw that has a Peaksmart meter installed.
The outdoor unit is coated with ‘Bluefin’ technology. This is a corrosion resistant coating to help reduce the effects of the outside elements degrading the coil. This in turn assists with the longevity and quality of the unit operation.
These units also use the latest R32 refrigerant. This refrigerant enables increased energy efficiency compared to R410A, with just one third of the global warming potential, the risk of environmental harm is greatly reduced.
